In de klankschappen-reeks ‘ALPINEN’ meng ik beeld met muziektaal op oude bewerkte partituren.
De partituur fungeert als gelaagde drager waar maat, ritme, kleur en ruimte samenkomen in een landschap/klankschap-beeld. Uit een technisch, esthetisch en inhoudelijk proces tussen drager en tekens ontstaat een beeld: de lagen laten sporen na en creëren het visuele beeld.
Deze klanktekeningen-reeks vormen imaginaire beeldende klankschappen.
In mijn Alpinen is het getekende landschap een landschap ‘an sich’, waarbij het beeld een zelfstandig motief is, zonder menselijke figuratie. Door de ‘ontvolking’ en de vrije expressieve uitwerking transformeert de Alpine van een nabootsend natuurbeeld naar een muzikaal, theatraal landschap. Het tekenen en schilderen wordt een landschap in mijn hoofd, een steeds fictiever landschap en verandert naar het klankbeeld op papier.
Het verinnerlijken leidt naar het ideële, een zoektocht naar het sublieme.
De expositie ALPINEN in het Sint-Annakasteel Maldegem toont voor het eerst de volledige reeks Zwitserse klankschappen.
De tentoonstelling is te bezichtigen weekends 9-10-11 en 16-17-18 oktober 2026.

In the ‘ALPINEN’ soundscape series, I blend imagery with musical language on old, adapted scores.
The score functions as a layered carrier where meter, rhythm, color, and space converge in a landscape/soundscape image. An image emerges from a technical, aesthetic, and substantive process between carrier and signs: the layers leave traces and create the visual image.
This series of sound drawings forms imaginary visual soundscapes.
In my Alpines, the drawn landscape is a landscape ‘in itself,’ where the image is an independent motif, without human figuration. Through ‘depopulation’ and free expressive elaboration, the Alpine transforms from an imitative image of nature into a musical, theatrical landscape. Drawing and painting become a landscape in my mind, an increasingly fictional landscape, and transform into the soundscape on paper.
Introspection leads to the ideal, a quest for the sublime.
The exhibition ALPINEN at Sint-Anna Castle Maldegem presents the complete series of Swiss soundscapes for the first time.
The exhibition is open on the weekends of October 9-10-11 and October 16-17-18, 2026.
